Janice Wainwright: UK vintage dress designer rare two-piece top and skirt

Janice Wainwright is one of my favourite British designers. With a career spanning the 60s into the 80s she created some of the most amazing pieces that ranged from billowing 70’s dresses decorated with devore velvet, to 20’s flapper style cocktail dresses with the most amazing draping. In the 80’s, sharp tailoring was the order of the day as seen in this rare Janice Wainwright 80’s fashion film

When I uncover a vintage Janice Wainwright design, I find it very difficult to let it go! I think she stands happily alongside Ossie Clark, Thea Porter and Jean Varon and her choice of exquisite fabric and embellishment never ceases to delight. I have quite a personal collection of a range of Janice Wainwright’s iconic pieces, some of which I can even squeeze into! Continue reading

Recently sold to a lovely lady in London, this figure-hugging hot orange and silver vintage evening gown by renowned design house ‘Global’ will be out on the town again and wowing onlookers with her elegance and personality!

Sold on my Etsy shop, the very happy customer said: “★★★★★ I would like to thank the seller for sending me this wonderful dress! It really was as wonderful in real life as shown on the photo, it is truly beautiful! First class service and would not hesitate to shop here again!” Ah, thanks sweetie!

With a deep v back and absolutely outstanding detailing on the bottom of the skirt (I mean, check out those bows people), I’m betting this is one of a kind. Dress clash at a party? Not in this hot number! Got get em’ girl!

SOLD! Jean Varon Vintage Floral Extravaganza!

IMG_1846

This stunning Jean Varon vintage floral dress was found many years ago and I kept it safe until recently sold to another vintage seller. I have to say I secured it for a very good price (which is rare with Varon’s) and because I try to be really fair with my customers, I let her go for a bargain price! I imagine she’ll be sold on to a lovely new home, and for me that’s what it is all about. Vintage for me is not just about celebrating bygone eras and  recognising amazing design and craftsmanship; it’s also about trying to play a part in decreasing waste and saving resources on this little planet of ours.

So, if you pass by this beauty in the street sometime, give her a wave and wish her well on her next fabulous adventure!
